Orange Shirt Day 2026
Together Making A Difference
On September 30, 2026, syiyaya came together with shíshálh Nation and community members for Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Together, we honoured Residential School Survivors and their families and remembered the children who attended the former Sechelt Residential School, including those who never returned home.
Hosted by shíshálh Nation at the Residential School Monument Site, the gathering included drumming and singing, guest speakers, a moment of silence, cultural ceremony, and a Walk for Reconciliation.
Orange Shirt Day reminds us that reconciliation calls on each of us to listen, learn, remember, and act.
