BC Reconciliation Award 2025

A celebration of community, relationships, and our shared journey toward reconciliation.

BC Reconciliation

What This Recognition Means

The BC Reconciliation Award recognizes individuals, organizations, and communities whose leadership, integrity, respect, and commitment are helping advance reconciliation across British Columbia.
For the syiyaya Reconciliation Movement, this recognition represents far more than a single achievement. It reflects years of relationship-building, shared learning, and community collaboration, and honours the many Elders, Survivors, Knowledge Keepers, volunteers, partners, organizations, governments, schools, businesses, and community members who have walked this journey together.
The award reminds us that reconciliation begins with truth and grows through relationships. By listening to one another, learning from our shared history, and coming together with respect and openness, we strengthen connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people on the shíshálh swiya.
This honour celebrates how far we have come, while reminding us that the journey continues. Every conversation, partnership, shared experience, and act of learning helps carry this work forward for generations to come.

This award belongs not only to syiyaya, but to everyone who has walked beside us on this journey.

Watch the Award Presentation

In January 29th 2026, representatives of the syiyaya Reconciliation Movement travelled to Victoria, British Columbia, to receive the 2025 BC Reconciliation Award during the official provincial ceremony.

Presented by the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, the Honourable Wendy Cocchia, in partnership with the BC Achievement Foundation, this honour recognizes outstanding leadership and commitment to advancing reconciliation across the province. For syiyaya, it was a meaningful moment that celebrated years of relationship-building, collaboration, and community spirit.

We invite you to watch the ceremony and share in this proud moment of provincial recognition.

“Reconciliation is about listening deeply, acting with integrity, and standing together in ways that create real and lasting change.”
